Empikalyze Screening Results

Synthetic Candidate BUnder-experienced

79/100

Recommended

Strong applied AI/ML skills across CNN, NLP, Transformers; medical imaging, GAN depth, and management experience fall short of senior requirements.

How to Read the Screening Results

Each benchmark places three things side by side: the job requirements, the resume — with original and sanitized views — and the screening output. Reviewing them together is how the assessment is meant to be used.

1 — Start with the job requirements

Required skills are shown separately from preferred skills, and any recruiter-provided context is displayed as its own labelled block — because context can introduce additional mandatory requirements beyond the job description.

2 — Check the resume evidence

The original synthetic resume is shown in full. Toggle View sanitized screening input to see the exact text the AI evaluates, with direct personal identifiers removed.

3 — Interpret the score with its detail

Open the matched skills, missing skills, experience and gaps sections before drawing conclusions. Two candidates with similar scores can carry very different gaps.

Recommendation tiers in the app

Inside Empikalyze, results are grouped into tiers by match score so recruiters can triage a shortlist quickly. This page shows the same bands on every result:

  • 85–100Highly Recommended
  • 70–84Recommended
  • Below 70Review Recommended

How Empikalyze Screens a Resume — and How Resume PII Redaction Works

The workflow below is the same production pipeline that processes real screening jobs: requirements in, sanitized evidence evaluated, structured and validated results out.

The screening workflow

  1. The recruiter supplies a job description (text or file) and an optional Additional Context note of up to 4,000 characters.
  2. Before resume content reaches the AI screening stage, personally identifiable information is sanitized from it using built-in PII guardrails.
  3. The screening model reads the sanitized resume against the job description and context, using only evidence actually present — never inventing candidate information.
  4. Results pass structural validation (score range, experience classification, field limits) before they are accepted and ranked for the recruiter.

How Resume PII Redaction Works

Empikalyze is deliberate about what the AI screening stage sees. In the production pipeline, personally identifiable information is sanitized from resume content using built-in PII guardrails before the text is processed by the language model — the same guardrail configuration is applied to every resume in every screening job. Customer data is never used to train Empikalyze's AI models.

On this page, each resume panel shows the original synthetic resume in full by default, with a compact top-right toggle to the sanitized screening input actually used for the screening. Direct identifiers such as phone numbers and email addresses appear in the sanitized view as placeholder tokens (for example <PHONE_NUMBER> and <EMAIL_ADDRESS>), so you can compare exactly what changes before the text reaches the AI. This side-by-side demonstration is display-only — no benchmark text is sent to any AI service from this page, and it is not independent proof that the production PII-removal system catches every type of personal information.

Redaction is automated detection, so it should be understood as a strong privacy control rather than an absolute guarantee that every possible identifier in every document is removed. You can read more in Data Security and Privacy.

The screening evaluation rubric

Every match score is an integer from 0 to 100, calculated from four components. The rubric is applied the same way to every candidate in a job:

  • Required skills — up to 40 points

Mandatory requirements from the job description and recruiter context, scored by the proportion supported by actual resume evidence. Preferred skills strengthen the qualitative analysis but do not inflate this component.
  • Experience — up to 30 points

Years, seniority, responsibilities, industry, domain, technologies and practical similarity, evaluated together. Years alone never determine suitability.
  • Education — up to 15 points

How directly the education evidence fits the role, including any certifications or education preferences stated in recruiter context.
  • Role alignment — up to 15 points

How closely the candidate's actual work overlaps with the complete hiring requirements — same role, same domain or transferable evidence.

Semantically equivalent skills are normalized before matching — for example, “MS Excel” and “Microsoft Excel” count as Excel — so wording differences between a resume and a job description do not hide real matches. See Semantic Matching for the broader concept.

Additional Recruiter Context

Every screening job has an optional Additional Context field for must-have skills, location preferences, notice periods or client-specific requirements. Screening treats it as an extension of the hiring requirements — it can strengthen, narrow or introduce mandatory requirements beyond the job description — and each result includes a short assessment of how well the candidate satisfies it. Benchmark jobs that include recruiter context show it as its own labelled block, so you can see this behaviour directly.

Structured output validation

Every screening result must pass structural validation before it is accepted: the score must be an integer from 0 to 100, the experience classification must be one of the three defined values, and skill, strength and gap lists are cleaned and capped. Malformed model output is sent to a repair step that is instructed to preserve the original assessment and never invent candidate information. Validation guarantees complete, schema-valid results — not that an assessment is factually correct, which is why recruiter review stays central.

What Does an AI Resume Match Score Mean?

An Empikalyze match score represents the alignment identified between the evidence available in a resume and the requirements supplied for a particular job. It is specific to that job description, resume and any additional recruiter context used during screening.

Two candidates can have similar overall scores but different strengths, experience levels and requirement gaps. Reviewing the evidence alongside the score gives recruiters more useful information than treating a single number as the complete hiring decision.

An AI-generated match score is not a probability of being hired, a guarantee of job performance, or a universal measure of candidate quality. Recruiters should review the underlying evidence and use their own assessment as part of the hiring process.

Changing the job description or the mandatory requirements changes the evaluation. The same resume can score differently against two roles — and even against the same role after the recruiter adds context, tightens a must-have or removes a preferred skill.

Experience classifications explained

Exact Match

Experience is evaluated as strongly aligned with the role's seniority, responsibilities, domain and technologies.

Under-experienced

The evidence — years, depth of responsibilities or domain exposure — sits below what the complete requirements demand.

Over-experienced

Seniority or scope clearly exceeds the role, which can raise fit and compensation questions rather than capability ones.

These three categories are assigned by Empikalyze's evaluation rules, which weigh years, seniority, responsibilities, industry, domain and technologies together. Matching years without relevant responsibilities, technologies or domain never receives an Exact Match. The categories describe fit against the supplied requirements — they are not universal hiring standards, and no fixed year-threshold defines them.

Evidence types worth distinguishing

  • Overall professional experience versus experience directly relevant to this role.
  • Experience in the domain versus experience with a particular technology the role requires.
  • Required skills versus preferred skills — preferred criteria do not become mandatory unless the recruiter states it.
  • Positive evidence in the resume versus missing or insufficient evidence — an absent skill is reported as missing, not as a weakness elsewhere.

Where a benchmark uses recruiter-provided context, this page shows it separately from the original job description and labels its assessment on the result — because context may affect how the experience requirement is interpreted.

How We Evaluate AI Resume Screening Quality

A useful screening result should do more than identify matching keywords. It should distinguish direct evidence from weak or indirect evidence, identify material experience gaps, reflect job-specific requirements and provide explanations that recruiters can review.

Empikalyze benchmark examples let you inspect the job requirements, the resume evidence and the screening output together. This makes it easier to understand why a candidate appears to be a strong, moderate or weak match.

Requirement coverage

Does the result identify the important mandatory and preferred requirements supplied for the role — including requirements introduced through recruiter context?

Experience relevance

Does it distinguish total career experience from experience relevant to the role, and from experience with the specific technologies the role requires?

Evidence quality

Can the reported matched skills, strengths and gaps be traced back to evidence in the supplied resume and job requirements?

Score consistency

Does the scoring rubric apply the same principles — 40/30/15/15 components, preferred never mandatory — to different candidates for the same role?

Structured-output reliability

Does the system return complete, valid screening results, and does it detect missing or invalid fields before accepting a result?

PII-handling transparency

Is it clear what text is used for screening after redaction, and are privacy-related claims consistent with the actual processing implementation?

Human review

Does the interface make it easy for a recruiter to examine the underlying evidence rather than relying entirely on an AI score?

Demonstrated behaviour vs. measured performance

The examples on this page demonstrate how the screening workflow behaves on particular resume-job pairs. Empikalyze has not published independently measured evaluation metrics — such as screening accuracy, matching accuracy, bias-reduction, screening-time reduction or hiring-success rates — and this page deliberately makes no such claims. A small set of examples is not statistically representative of all industries or roles.

Structured-output validation and the malformed-output repair step are implemented behaviours: they ensure results are complete and schema-valid. They do not prove that a screening decision is factually correct. Factual correctness is exactly what recruiter review is for.

These examples illustrate individual screening outputs. They do not establish a universal accuracy rate or guarantee that every candidate will be assessed correctly. Screening results should be reviewed against the underlying evidence and the requirements of the individual role.

Beyond the Score: Evidence Recruiters Can Review

Empikalyze treats a score as one component of a wider screening assessment. A useful AI screening interface should present all of the following — and this benchmark page mirrors what the product actually shows.

  • The score alongside its job-specific context.
  • Mandatory requirements and preferred criteria, separately.
  • Relevant experience and individual skill-depth limitations.
  • Supporting evidence from the resume, in original and sanitized views.
  • Missing or uncertain evidence, clearly labelled.
  • The distinction between model output and a recruiter's decision.
  • Clear limitations of benchmark data and scoring methodology.

Why numbers alone mislead

In the AI & Machine Learning benchmark, Synthetic Candidate B matches thirteen required technologies and misses only GAN depth, yet is classified under-experienced — medical-imaging experience stays at prototype level and the recruiter's technology-duration minimums are not clearly evidenced. In the Manufacturing & Cost Engineering benchmark, Synthetic Candidate B brings eight years of design and costing work yet is still classified under-experienced, because the deciding gaps are should-cost tool depth and electrical-part costing — not keyword count. A candidate can match many skill names and still fall short of the critical responsibilities; another can look thin on keywords and carry the strongest direct evidence. That is why the comparison shows evidence, not just scores.
